Of the 44 entrants for the 2009 Scale Model Build Contest, Round 2, held March 11-May 11, 2009, 13 builders finished their models (page 1 of this article), 19 participated but were unable to meet the deadline (page 2), and 12 never started. After two months of building and posting progress weekly via the Forums, the deadline has come and it is time to start picking a winner. The 13 entries on this page, below, will be eligible winners, since these builders completed their model build(s) and posted pictures of the builds in their completed state, by the deadline. Please VOTE below! You may clear your cache and vote over and over again. Like Round 1, expect magazine coverage for Round 2. No specific details have been established for Round 3 yet.

Joe McKnelly
Hocknberry
1994 Nissan Hardbody

This Nissan Hardbody certainly seems to be a rarer build! Stock floor body dropped over 22 inch Dub Vistas, how could you not be impressed? This clean build will certainly be popular among Mini Truckers, and will be a competitive player in Round 2.

Aaron Buck
MilkManConcepts
Dodge Dakota

With comments such as, "Thanks for raising the bar so high that none of us can reach it, that is one of the sharpest models i have ever seen in my life," and "You're putting us all to shame," perhaps we should kick this guy out right now! The real truck on which this model is based looks just as amazing!

Daniel
Kalifkid
WV Bus
2000 Chevy Astro Van
1990 Toyota Hilux
1985 Datsun 720

Major props to Daniel, who completed 3 out of 4 builds attempted! The fourth was not finished because it encountered some specific hardships that made the project unrecoverable. His builds include a vintage bus, a mini van, and a Datsun 720. We can appreciate this combination of unique builds! Unfortunately, the truck that didn't reach completion was the "Last Look" truck, which would have been awesome to see!

Chevy Silverado

This blue Silverado features right hand drive. While we do not have many details on this model, we like the direction it took!

Josh Smith
INTHABLOOD
2012 Concept Mini

Known for breaking the mold and busting into unchartered territory, Josh Smith decided to build a 2012 Concept Mini Truck from scratch, stating that, "I thought it would be more simple to just build my own rather then modify some other dudes design." With the body built from styrene sheets and the frame from various sizes of styrene tubing, Josh went on to build an Enzo Ferrari mid-engine powered mini on 26s, shaved, stock floor body dropped, and styled to the max with upside down Escalade headlights. What can we say, besides welcome to the future of mini truckin'.

Danny Melton
dannys_dakota
Dodge D-50

Despite being a new dad, Danny found time to complete this rare D-50. Featuring a metallic green paint, custom bed floor, and much more, we applaud the time and effort put into this build.

Brad Fortney
Jesterking
1992 Toyota Hilux

This builder picked up the pace at the last minute, declaring that "I think it will be like a last minute sema all-nighter." Isn't that the truth! This right hand drive hilux has a sliding ragtop, 20s, a full molded interior, and more. This is an all-around clean truck!

Matt Pervin
Chevyguy97
1941 Chevy
Chevy 454SS

Matt built a super clean '41 Chevy, and then, in the spare time after that, a matching 454SS Chevy. Based on his huge collection of previous builds, we know why Matt's trucks turned out so clean! His two-tone combination of flat black and Chevy true blue on the '41 make for a super clean and sharp shop truck.

Scott Crow
crows10
1993 Ford Ranger

Scott's 1993 Ford Ranger features a blown 429 Ford engine, stock floor body drop, air ride, a '59 Impala dash, and more. Most notably, his true fire custom paint job sets this mini apart, and just might remind you of a past Mini Truckin' Ranger feature. Complete with a mini dude to drive, Scott's Ranger is clearly sick. He'd like to thank his daughter Shelby for directing the build and giving him pointers (instead of smashing it).

Armando Ruiz
dohdoh806
2006 Dodge Magnum

This builder decided to make a Ghost Busters Ecto 1 2006 Dodge Magnum. The beautiful thing about this contest is that you can make such creative ideas come true! Like the original car, this one also has the Ghost Busters equipment on top of the car.

Nicolas Meza
minitrucker.806
1985 Chevy S10

This builder states that he didn't go crazy on the mods, and that he will be tearin' it up in Round 3. However, the clean and simple trucks did very well last round. We applaud the fact that he posted finished pictures, and definitely can't wait to see what he comes up with for Round 3. Congratulations to him and his wife for the newest member of his family, born April 8th. Even though he had an awesome excuse not to finish, he still did.

John Remler
minitruker666
1996 Chevy S10 SS

This builder was using a computer library to update his thread, at least for a while! Now THAT is dedication! He completed his build and it looks great. Major props for his dedication!

Justin M. Rogers
Spydyrbyte
1998 Chevy S10 Xtreme

This roadstered "Go-Mango" colored S10 has more mods than we can count! With diligent updates and many build pictures, this S10 bring a distinctive style that is going to heat up the competition.

Rick Schwartz
ScaleDreams
Datsun

This Drag Racing Dragger Datsun started with high hopes and fizzled as time went on. The secret stash of goodies that were planned for this truck never made it to the forums. We understand that life gets crazy and people get busy, so it's all good.

T-Jay Johnson
Project59
1982 Datsun 720

After this guy figured out how to follow rules and start his forum thread correctly, he wasted no time in starting his Datsun 720 build. Showing a great deal of detail in the hinge work, this Creative Model Builders Inc. (CMBI) club member knows his stuff when it comes to building models. Would we expect anything less from a Canadian? Unfortunately, we did not get final pictures and information on this build.

Jordan Swift
phat97yukon
Toyota Hilux 4X4

While we are sure this Toyota Hilux model turned out great, we just don't know, as this Canadian Creative Model Builders Inc. member did not post very many pictures or updates on the build. We can only imagine...

Doug Tilley
Low86Dime
1984 Chevrolet Dually

This '84 Chevy Dually would have been an awesome build to see completed, but unfortunately, that did not happen, at least from what we can tell. This was definitely a unique build, though!

Chris Lewis
BiggC
1970's Ford F150

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, this builder wasn't able to finish this '70's Ford F150. Can you imagine how this would look completed?

Garret Cobbs
cobbs250
1999 Chevy Silverado

Get this - this builder's model was stolen, along with his REAL truck! Can you believe that! Unfortunately, we never saw any pictures of the original build. Amazingly, on April 28th, he got a new model and was going to try to pull off another build! Props to this guy for trying. We are sorry to hear what happened.

Bill Edman, Jr.
ptrt2001
1970's Datsun

Unfortunately, all we have from this 70's Datsun build is a pile of parts. Hopefully this builder will join us for Round 3!

Dexter Bostic
Airleak
1994 Chevy S10

This '94 Dime started out strong, but progress slowed when disaster struck: "DRAGULA Dime Project kicked my ass today and I Got 8 Sitches lol cut my finger right down the top and inch deep but no blood on the truck thank God lol." Do we need to remind everyone to be careful? We generally don't condone wounds, but hey... at least he didn't get any blood on the truck. Too bad we don't have any completed pictures of the build!

Ryan Blanchard
sporty720
1999 Chevy Silverado

Although we haven't gotten a good look at the '99 Silverado, we can only assume that it was a sick build!

Melisa Harper
Micarox
1991 Toyota 4Runner

Melisa, competing in Round 2 with her 1991 Toyota 4Runner against her husband, unfortunately fell victim to pneumonia and hasn't been seen since. Boys, you lucked out - this time.

Mike Derichsweiler
mkd904
1989 Chevy S10 Dually

This builder is in the progress of constructing a 4-door dually '89 S10. Although it was clear he was in it to win, the last we heard from him was "Not sure if I will finish....but we will see..." We hope he continues to show us how this truck is turning out!

Remington Box
Remingtonbox
1993 Ford Explorer

After a few great pictures, this build suddenly fell off the charts, and where it stands right now, we don't know! The few pictures that were posted looked clean and promising, and it would be nice to see this Explorer finished someday!

Brett Banks
Banksyboy
1999 Chevy Silverado

We only got to see one picture of this build, which is a shame, because it looked to be turning out great! Maybe we'll see more in Round 3.

Bernie Harper
Burnzya
1992 Toyota Hilux

This builder bailed on the project when he picked up a couple of real-life trucks to work on. How dare he! Wait a minute - that's totally a legit, great excuse. We can hardly get mad at him for that!

Rob Wright
1lows-10
Chevy S10

Although we did not get to see too many build photos, we have to say that a past S10 model truck that he posted really did look like a real truck. Too bad his Round 2 project didn't seem to make it to that stage!

David Irwin
minidreams_n_scale
1908's Ford F150

This guy typed a majority of his thread in caps, BUT HE WASN'T YELLING, IT JUST SEEMED THAT WAY. Although his mix breed build of several kits started out strong, posts became sparse as the arrival of his twins got closer. Can we blame him? No. We're sure he'll return to this "Inbreeder" truck someday soon.

Robert Raymond
AIRBRUSHMASTER
1994 Chevy S10
Toyota Hilux

This builder had two trucks lined up, but neither saw completion. Apparently he is a government contracted guard. What that is, I'm not sure, but it sounds way more important than building models. We are looking forward to see what he does for Round 3.

Dan Bunker
scrapin79
1999 Chevy Silverado

Unfortunately, this builder "wasnt paying attention to the end date of the model build so i didnt get done." That's a shame, because we like where it was headed! I hate it when deadlines sneak up on you!

Kevin Mead
TwistedFabrication
1995 GMC Sonoma
1972 Chevy C10
1955 Chevy Cameo Pickup

Although three trucks were started, none have completed build pictures up. We hope he decided to finish them anyway!
