The quickest and most comfortable interior upgrade that any mini-trucker can appreciate is the addition of new upholstery in the cabin of his or her cruiser.
Classic Soft Trim, one of the leading upholstery suppliers to dealerships across the country, is now moving toward the custom aftermarket. Classic Soft Trim offers many stitching options, from leathers to exotic vinyls to fancy-colored threads, all of which will cover your upholstery needs. The upholstery comes ready to install with all the factory hook and loop fastener placements, meaning that you won't need to reuse any of your OEM seat covers, or purchase any other materials. The installation is easy enough for the do-it-yourselfer, but there are several installation centers nationwide that will install anything from sunroofs to custom upholstery.
For the Sonoma in question, we chose a combination of black, yellow, and embossed vinyl with a carbon-fiber look. The seat covers were double-stitched in yellow to give the new covers a pinstriped look and were ready to be installed upon arrival. The only thing that needs to be done for rolling in style is to remove all the seats and the OEM seat covers. Once all the factory seats are stripped, simply replace the OEM seat covers with the new custom vinyl counterparts provided by Classic Soft Trim. Your interior will go from boring stock cloth to a sweet-lookin' combination in no time. Follow along as we show you how easy the install truly is. For more information, contact Classic Soft Trim.
This is the seriously boring factory interior of the Sonoma. It won't stay that way for long.
First things first: Remove all the seats so that you can remove the factory seat covers. Be careful not to scratch the truck when removing the seats.
We began the install with the front bucket seats.
These are the Classic Soft Trim front bucket seat covers. If you look closely at the material, you'll notice that it looks similar to carbon fiber; it's actually vinyl, and is likely to outlast the paint on the outside of your truck.

The bucket seats will need to be disassembled by removing the 10mm bolts holding the backrest to the bottom cushion. This will allow you to remove the OEM cloth and stretch the new upholstery into place. |
The OEM seat covers were removed by pulling them away from the hook-and-loop tracks running up and around the foam of the seat. Go easy: You don't want to separate the hook-and-loop from the seat foam. |

Once the seat covers were removed, the new covers attached to the same hook-and-loop tracks used by the OEM covers. The edges of the seat cover were then rolled over and secured in place. |
Next, we did the same to the seatback of the bucket. Roll the Classic Soft Trim cover down, lining up the hook-and-loop fasteners. |

The bottom seat cushion of the bucket seats are held together using these J-clip latching tracks. |
That's all it will take to upgrade your front seats. Wasn't that simple? |

Here are all the seats, once they were removed. Now we're going to wrap the backseat. |
The back seat is held together using hog rings and interlocking plastic runners. The hog rings were cut to remove the OEM seat covers. |

Instead of hook-and-loop fasteners, the sides of the back seat are held in using interlocking plastic runners. The plastic runners were easily unhooked to allow the OEM seat covers to be removed. |
After that small difference, it was back to the same basics used for the front bucket seat; undo the hook-and-loop fasteners and remove the OEM seat cover. |

Now you can put the new cover on the same way as before. |
Place the whole seat cover of the seat bottom onto all hook-and-loop fasteners before rolling the edges over. This way, your seat is centered and prevents wrinkles. It will also make for a tighter fit, rather then trying to do one side at a time. |

Now, simply roll the edges over all the way around. That will "wrap up" the bottom of the back seat. |
Applying all the things you've learned thus far, do the same to the top of the back seat by lining up all fasteners, then wrapping the edges. |

All our seats are now covered and ready to be reinstalled. New and improved never looked so good. |
With the newly wrapped seats in the Sonoma, we were ready to go for a cruise and show off our new interior. Classic Soft Trim's upholstery really brought the drab interior to life. |
