Nu Image Shows Us How To Make The Most Of A Gauge Cluster

1. The first step in our gauge conversion was to make a diagram of where all the needles were pointed in the gauge cluster. It's extremely important to do so, otherwise all of your gauges will be inaccurate after the installation is finished.

2. Pete began disassembling the dash by removing the center bezel and the A/C controls.

3. The lower dash piece on the driver side was removed next.

4. The steering column cover was taken out to aid in the removal of the gauge cluster.

5. After unscrewing four Phillips-head screws, the upper dash bezel was removed.

6. Pete carefully unplugged the speedometer cable and the wire harness after removing the gauge cluster.

7. With the gauge cluster removed from the vehicle, we got a good look at the plain-Jane factory gauge faces.

8. To gain access to the gauges, depress the plastic hold-down tabs on the front of the cluster and pry it away from the rear housing.

9. A specialized removal tool was used to carefully pry the needles off of their posts. On some applications, this step is not necessary.

10. Next, we unscrewed the factory gauge faces.

11. The new gauge faces were installed over the factory ones using their adhesive backing.

12. Pete then installed the newly finished gauge faces back into the cluster. After the cluster is complete, just reverse the disassembly process.

13. Voila! Check out the flames on that bad boy!
