Born in Davenport, Iowa, Phil Gordon moved to South Florida at the age of two. With no true father figure, Phil's mother provided for him and taught him right from wrong. In his teen years, like most adolescents Phil got into trouble. In order to keep Phil on the right track, Phil's mom purchased a vehicle for him so that he would focus on more positive things.
The '78 Toyota Celica wasn't a dream vehicle by any means however it kept Phil in school and helped him stay out of trouble. At the age of 16 he began focusing on turning his Celica into something he could be more proud of. Spending much of his teen years in high school and working odd jobs for the finances to pour into his new project, he turned his Celica into a show winner. Phil joined the South Florida car club called Bottom Out Miniz. T here he was able to learn more about car and truck building and responsibility by mandatory meetings.
Phil graduated high school in 1995 and still had no direction as to where he would go from there. Superior grades allowed his decision to be greater having received a scholarship to college.
During this period Phil brought his custom Celica to a Lowrider Magazine Show in Miami, Florida. At the show he met famed photographer Joe Greeves. T hat friendship grew into more like a father/son relationship and from there Phil had a plan of action.
Attending T he University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida and graduating with an Associate's Degree, Phil came back home to South Florida and attended T he Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. Gathering another degree for photography, he joined forces with Peter Langone a world-renown photographer where Phil learned how to apply his photography skill set.
Phil's break into the automotive industry began when Joe Greeves was booked at an event and couldn't cover a show in Central Florida. Joe called Phil and his last words to him were "Go get 'em son!" Covering the event got Phil's foot in the door and he hasn't looked back. He has shot vehicles and events for Lowrider Magazine, Mini Truckin' Magazine, Street Trucks Magazine, Truckin' Magazine, Braggen Rites Magazine, King of the Street Magazine, Road Rage Magazine, Out of Reality Magazine, Dub Magazine and Rides Magazine. Phil has done work for the Sun Sentinel Newspaper as well as local advertisement agencies.
Phil credits his passion and dedication to his mother Phyllis who despite being a single working mother, has stood by him through thick and thin and gave him all the essential tools to be a man, his mentor and to his father figure Joe Greeves for believing in him. Without these integral pieces to the puzzle, the ending might be different.
