LMC Truck in Lenexa, Kansas showed off their new City Pickup Counter, where local customers have the option of stopping by to pick up their truck parts. More than 250 people attended the grand opening on June 14th. Customers displayed their trucks and registered for prizes every 1/2 hour, plus a chance at the grand prize drawing for a $250.00 gift certificate to LMC Truck. The City Pickup Counter more than doubled in size to more than 2,000 square feet displaying two trucks and a variety of parts and accessories.

Now that Toyota has one of the biggest markets in its hands, it might as well keep that stronghold by targeting its younger brand. So why not introduce a pickup under the Scion name? This could play out right as part of a trend to reintroduce mini-trucks back into the market along with the redesign of the 2011 Ford Ranger or the Indian-based Mahindra pickup.

Rumor Mill
Rumors have again bubbled up that Kia is poised to begin selling a body-on-frame V-6 and V-8 pickup truck in the U.S. by the 2011 model year. That could be good timing, as a pickup slightly larger than a Toyota Tacoma would attack a market besieged by rising gasoline prices detrimental to Ford, Chevy, and Dodge sales.
Kia's '04 Chicago auto show concept vehicle, the Mojave, hinted at the styling and size of the '09 Borrego sport utility vehicle. To avoid the 45-year-old "chicken tax," a 25-percent tariff on trucks built outside North America or Australia, Kia would have to build a second production facility here the U.S. to get the truck on sale by the 2011 model year.
