Off The Beaten Path
Gold Rush Car Show is located in what's known as the City of Gold. What started out as a small car show back in the '80s, and has turned into a huge success. The show is put on once a year, during the same weekend as the Oroville, California, Feather Fiesta days (May 10th). A huge parade and many events go on at the same time. All the money raised goes to a local non-profit organization to help with the community. Everyone involved happily donates his or her time to make this an event worth coming back to. More than 250 trophies were awarded to the judges' favorite picks.
Steve Nielsen of CanDo Specialties and Bob Grant of Grant Kustoms have been supporting the show for years. For the past three years, Steve and Bob have enlisted as judges to help just a bit further. Steve also received the honor to judge the minitrucks and later-year vehicles. Knowing this, the guys pushed for more minitruck categories. This year, more than 850 vehicles showed up (150 over the limit) and thousands of people were on hand to see their favorites. The minitrucks were a small crowd, but Steve and Bob hope to grab some of your attention for next year's Gold Rush Car Show. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has offered exchanges for certain tires sold for use with small trucks, but insisted the decision is not a recall. They believe that some of these tires under adverse conditions can have tread separation. It offered to exchange P215/70R14 tires, sold under 23 private label names, including Douglas, Kelly, Mohave and Republic, both in the United States and Canada. Goodyear estimated that approximately 400,000 of the replacement tires made from 2003 to 2006 might be in use.
