Mahindra Vehicles to hit U.S. Auto Market in 2009Mahindra SUVs and trucks, the first line of Indian-made automobiles to debut in the United States, will offer a blend of ruggedness, performance, and affordability; highlighted by a clean-burning diesel engine. It's built with top-of-the-industry green technology, which was designed to reduce emissions and maximize fuel efficiency.
The Mahindra Group, which was recently ranked by Forbes as one of the World's 200 Most Reputable Companies, vehicles are scheduled to go on sale in the U.S. during the second quarter of 2009 through a vast national network of premier dealers.
The first product line will feature a midsize SUV and two midsize trucks: a two-door and four-door model, all with sixspeed automatic transmissions and state-of-the-art common-rail diesel technology-similar to that used by Mercedes-Benz and BMW. In addition to getting 20- to 40-percent better fuel mileage than gasoline engines, Mahindra vehicles will be cleaner burning-emitting fewer greenhouse gases per mile-all while maintaining diesel's historic advantages of more torque and greater durability. The company is planning to provide all vehicles with a four-year, 60,000-mile, bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Say Goodbye To The Ford Ranger
Ford has announced that it will close the doors of its St. Paul, Minnesota, plant-where it makes the Ford Ranger-at the end of 2009. This extends the plant's life by one year. However, the closure also means the end of the Ford Ranger pickup truck at the end of 2009. Earlier reports indicated the Ranger could continue to be built in Thailand, but high tariffs between the United States and Thailand would likely lessen any profits.
