Sema '05 Hits Hard
This year the SEMA show was held on November 1-4, '05. A record number of manufacturers were present to serve the more than 100,000 trade professionals that were on hand to catch a glimpse of the 1000 highly anticipated never-before-seen products. The over one million square feet of space left shoe insole companies in good financial standing. The Chevrolet HHR was recognized as the most accessory-friendly SUV at the 2005 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, capturing one of three SEMA Vehicle Design Awards and joining a prestigious list of past winners. The Chevrolet HHR received more than 60 percent of the votes. Look for more SEMA coverage in an upcoming issue of Mini Truckin'.

Comp Cams Shows Their Humanity
Comp Cams employees made a major contribution to the American Red Cross Relief Fund. Employees dug deep to make donations in support of neighbors, friends and relatives affected by Hurricane Katrina. Comp Cams employees were saddened and distressed by the effects of Hurricane Katrina on the nearby Gulf coast. They have responded in a generous way, through their contributions to the American Red Cross Relief Fund. In the wake of this terrible event, Comp Cams gave employees the opportunity to voluntarily donate from their paychecks to the American Red Cross. The overwhelmingly positive response was amazing, a fact made all the more impressive by the dollar-for-dollar matching donation made by Comp Cams. Toyota vs. GM, Who Will Win?
In the never-ending fight for world supremacy, Toyota has taken over Ford's spot as the no. 2 leading manufacturer in the world and now wants a piece of Chevy. The contrast between the festivities at Toyota's fifth North American assembly plant and the downsizing of GM's Linden factory, built in 1937, sharply illustrates the Japanese automaker's relentless advance on the older, weakened North American giant. Toyota already has overtaken Ford Motor Co. to become the world's second-largest automaker. By 2006, it is shooting to sell 8.5 million cars and trucks worldwide, edging close to GM, ranked No. 1 since 1931. If Toyota surpasses GM, that would have a profound psychological impact on the U.S. industry, one of the last manufacturing sectors where Americans still lead. It would also undermine GM's ability to dominate the industry and buffet smaller players such as DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group with its price wars.
