It seems that every single time I look online there's some stupid post about how all of our shows have gone to crap and the scene is dying. Blah, blah, blah... seriously?!
Did any of you (the few people crying online) actually venture out of your little hole and go to a big show? Because this year has shown MAJOR signs of improvement in all things worth mentioning! Numbers are up, the caliber of vehicles are up, and best of all, stupidity is down, WAY DOWN!
Yes, naturally the economy played a factor over the last couple of years in low show turnouts, but it's leveled out now and on its way back up. We've all done a great job at helping police each other to keep the shows and the scene more enjoyable for all, and I want to be the one to personally thank each and every one who's helped make that possible. To the minitruckers out there at the shows, building trucks, reading the mags, and going online who are contributing to the positive side of things I really want to extend very special thanks for helping be part of the solution.
Don't just jump on the bandwagon when you hear someone else complaining about something and get on board with it. Nothing ever gets fixed from just talking about it-ESPECIALLY ONLINE! We've written about the cool Internet keyboard commandos before, but it's getting old. Sorry to rant here, but I'm not the only one who thinks we would all be better off without them. I have three words for you: positive, positive, positive! Try and keep things positive in posts, letters, emails, conversations, among friends, and enemies alike. My mom, like most moms, always said, "If you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything at all." This would go a long way in our community to help keep people around through positive support instead of trying to push people away with some sort of "members only" attitude.
So enough of the rant, but if you take anything away from this column and turn some negativity to the positive side then it was worth it. We've recently seen a rebirth of enthusiasm over the last few months, and all of the positive influences and the support have really sparked some good. Recently, we were at the Forbidden Fantasy show in SoCal, and it was an awesome time. A ton of great trucks, great people, and positive attitudes! So please help spread the word and keep the positive vibe spreading like wildfire. Until next month, please drag thru. -L888888888
