Hello, and welcome to another jam-packed edition of The Hot Seat. In case you missed last month's story, each month we take a person that has been a vital part, a mentor, or made some significant impact in the scene, and expose him or her and make them blush for your reading enjoyment.

So sit back, light a match, do a courtesy flush, and enjoy this month's installment.

* If you have an idea for someone you want to see in The Hot Seat, email hotwheelbabie@aol.com with your suggestions, questions, or comments, and maybe your favorite person will be our next victim!

This month, we bring you Matt Baker from Suicidedoors.com and Severed Ties Indiana; if you don't know him yet, you're about to know it all!

The Basics
Full Name:
Matt Baker
Age: 34
Place of Birth: Ohio
Current Residence: Indiana
Daily Driver: 2008 Scion XB
Who are you?: Matt Baker (aka Don Shagwell) friend, father, and husband.

Q: What is in your toilet tower/lavatory library? Be honest, not the obvious ones like Mini Truckin', we want to know about the Better Homes & Gardens and the luscious large woman mags.
A: Men's Health, Ol' Skool Rodz, and MT.

Q: Tell us one thing people either don't know about you or would be very surprised to hear?
A: I really like to play golf and disc golf when I can find the time.

Q. Do you have any tattoos? If so, do you have any you regret?
A: Yeah I have a few tattoos and each one has a unique story behind it.

Q. Do you consider yourself "regular"?
A: Yup, I'm an average Joe.

Q. What is your favorite show of all time? Why?
A: Reso, I have the most memories from this show because I went since 1993.

Q. What got you into the scene?
A: Some of my friends were part of the founding chapter of Xtreme Lowz and got me into all of this.

Q. What is your favorite memory of your career in the scene? Favorite job?
A: I don't just have one, I have been lucky to meet some great people so far and have great memories with all of them!

Q. Who do you look up to in the industry? Why?
A: I would have to say Bob Hase. Through all the years of throwing Reso and other shows he has had a couple bumps in the road. Things that most people would not have recovered from, but he has never given up. Because of this he has showed people how to succeed and have fun doing it.

Q. We know you are in a little transition right now with a new job over at Suicidedoors.com and moving from California to Indiana. How are you getting along?
A: Getting along pretty good, this has been the hardest thing I have ever done. To get up and leave everything you know is tough. Having great friends and a strong wife has really made things work.

Q. Where did the "Don Shagwell" name originate?
A: I wore work shirts with the name Don on them and one day some friends were spouting off porn names and "Don Shagwell" was born.

Q. Is it true you were an ice cream man? Please tell us you were not one of those creepy "free candy van" kinda guys!
A: Yeah before I worked for Bob Grant I was a rep for a company that sold Dreyer's, Nestle, and a few other brands, I did that for about six years.

Q. We hear you have an incredibly abnormal/over-sized "coin purse"?
A: Yeah, I never really realized it, but they are bigger than most. A few weeks ago they were called cantaloupes haha.

Q. So it seems urgent poo is something that your struck with? We heard you got to tour the St. Patrick's Cathedral, but you needed more than altar assistance or a confession, what happened?
A: Let's just say I didn't really get to see much since the bathroom was closed.

Q. Can you tell us why you are often referred to as Matt "I cherish your friendship" Baker?
A: The first week that I left California I ended up at Carlisle and a bunch of great friends were there. I was a little messed up in the head that week because of leaving my family in California. A little drink sometimes makes the emotions come out. I'm just glad I had friends there to point this out... bunch of punks!

Q. What is your most memorable experience while working for Bob Grant?
A: The day he asked me to work for him. After that watching him do what he does is amazing. Also seeing him putting others first really shows a lot about his character.

Q. Why did you have a completely pink room in your California home?
A: My daughter wanted a pink bathroom so she got it. If you've been in it you probably wished you had sunglasses on.

Q. Have you ever been to a "furry convention"?
A: Haha, yeah there was this one time! But really a couple of years ago Johnny O and I were flying to Scrapin' the Smokies. I happened to land first so I had a couple hours to kill, so I ventured out to find a hotel to have a drink and relax to kill some time. Well I'm sitting there and all of a sudden I see these "furries" start wandering around. Didn't know what to think at the time until a hotel worker told me what was going on. So as soon as I picked up John I told him he had to see this. After we got there, next thing we knew three hours had gone by so we took some pictures and headed out to the show. I have to say I've had some good times over the years!

Q. Finally, the plugs...anything you want to promote?
Just wanted to thank some people that have been supportive: my wife and daughter, all my boys in Severed Ties for making the transition easier, Bob Grant, Jason and Katee, Johnny O, Da Boss, Poop, Ricky, Oliver, Link, Kerry, Bobby the creep, RJ, Tom Hall, and El Presidente.
