Whenever one door closes, another one opens, or as my mom used to say "hopefully at least a window will open so you can jump..." haha.
If you've read my column more than a few times, you probably know by now that I tend to stay on the optimistic side of things no matter how dismal it can get at times. I've never been a whiner, but all this doom and gloom crap, and economic crisis stuff is really getting on my last nerve!
Companies are doing what they can to survive and that goes the same with magazines, radio stations, you name it--nothing is safe. So yeah it's tough going right now, but do you really think that I'm going to let that get to me? Nope. Is it going to affect this very magazine? Not if I have anything to do with it! I will be working around the clock as always to bring you guys the best of the best, and like the last 20+ years, we will continue to be the ONLY magazine dedicated to all you minitruckers near and far.
So enough of that disclaimer stuff; time to move onto the real topic at hand. Normally I try and keep this page free and clear of any of my personal business, but for once, I am actually so excited that I can't wait to share this with the world. Despite the rough year that has come and gone, it's actually been one of the happiest years of my life. I've been fortunate enough to share it with one of the best people I've ever met, and she has truly become my partner in crime. We do everything together, and she goes to all the shows with me and enjoys them just as much as I do. I can work late into the night at the office or in the garage, and never hear a squeak from her. She'll bring us dinner, an 18-pack, and let the boys go about their business. It's such a breath of fresh air not to have any added stress on top of everything else we have to deal with right now. So, I'll stop stalling and get right to the point. This week my girlfriend and I are flying out to New York for a much needed vacation, and while we're there I'm going to pop the question! I know you guys probably don't care all that much, haha but like I said, I'm just super excited and had to share the good news with the rest of my minitrucker family. I guess I answered the "Priorities" question, lol. But in all seriousness, thanks for listening and letting me rant month after month. Sometimes it's boring, personal stuff, like my own little "Memoirs of Mike Alexander", but if you really want the good stuff, just flip the page already and get your monthly minitruck fix.
