There's a reoccurring trend, if you want to call it a trend, that's apparent when we started getting a closer look at some of Australia and New Zealand's rising stars in their mini truck community—cleanliness. The quality metal and suspension work, close attention to detail, and overall tidy execution is impressive to say the least, and this Toyota is just one prime example of what to expect in the rest of this issue.

The Hilux on this page was Beau Riding's first vehicle, which he picked up seven years ago. He says, "It was a stock, run-of-the-mill work horse. It's taken three years and $80K to get it where it's at now. I found myself constantly forking over cash and always being too broke to buy parts for the truck." At least Beau can find solace in the fact that he definitely got what he paid for. From the sharply dressed engine bay, completely decked out interior, and the handsome suspension and frame peeking through the bed floor, it's all evidence of calculated thoroughness.

But here's the kicker—Beau is only 23 years old, and if you're doing the running math equation along with us, he was 16 when he first got the truck, and 20 when he first sunk his teeth into it. This build springboarded him to the forefront of the mini scene at an age when most guys are only daydreaming of starting a truck like this.

But what consequences come with owning a truck in such pristine condition? Well, there's total anonymity, for starters. "People don't really know who I am, but they always seem to know what I drive." That's a valid gripe, but if it's sympathy Beau is after, he may not find many takers in the audience. After all, not everyone will have the rare treat of owning a vehicle as radical as this. And not everyone will be known as "that one guy with the cool ass truck that was in Mini Truckin' magazine". It's a cold, cold world out there—#featuretruckownerproblems.
