Christopher "Scott" Roberts of Altavista, Virginia, is one hard-core mini-trucker. How many guys from your crew have their truck tattooed on their arm? We're guessing none at all. Most guys and gals have blood, sweat, and tears invested into the buildup of their trucks, but Chris' permanent reminder took a little of its own. A member of Diversified Ridez, Chris represents to the fullest and hits up shows all over the East Coast. With his '94 Nissan Hardbody he has picked up a handful of First Place trophies and the coveted Best of Show award. His truck was not always trophy worthy; it took some serious work to get his Nissan to the state it's in now.
To dump the truck down to a desirable height, Chris headed over to TNT Automotive in Waynesboro, Virginia, to talk to Greg Taylor. Once they figured out how low Chris planned to go, Greg jumped in and started on the suspension. He 'bagged the truck all the way around using Firestone airbags. To drop the front down and maintain proper geometry, Greg installed AIM drop spindles. Out back he fabricated a triangulated four-link setup to ensure a smooth ride while laying the back flat on the pavement. The frame received a bridge notch to allow the rearend more breathing room. After the frame was properly grounded, it received some crazy airbrushed detail work from front to back. Chris then gave the go-head to lay the body down as well. Greg began to slice and dice again and body-dropped Chris' truck 3 inches to lay the rocker flat on the floor.
Rolling low and dragging body was not good enough for Chris, so he and his buddy Robert Maxxy gave the exterior a smooth makeover. They shaved the door handles, emblems, gas door, third brake light, and taillights, and molded in a tailgate skin. Chris opted for 10-inch flush-mounted LEDs to take the place of his brake lights and slapped on a Leonard tonneau cover to clean up the bed. After a billet grille was installed to help the front fascia, Chris decided it was time for paint. Robert Maxxy used PPG Slate Blue Pearl and Prowler Silver for the two-tone and graphics job he and Chris laid down.
Chris and Dustin Stevens handled the stereo chores. The duo wired up a Pioneer deck, Memphis amps, and JL Audio speakers to help with the boom-boom. Then Custom Interiors By Stitch wrapped up the deal - literally. Stitch used a combination of gray tweed and green suede to wrap the custom dash, the Sunfire seats, and the rest of the interior.
After all was said and done, Chris had one body-dragging, hammered Hardbody to drive and one on his arm to keep the memory alive. Chris would like to thank his mom, Brian, Stitch, Jonathan, and his club, Diversified Ridez.
