Danny Bianchi is one of the many mini-truckers who have put the East Coast on the map by taking a truck and doing the unthinkable. Danny officially did all he could to raise the bar for all those out there building a Mazda. Mind was put to metal in the buildup of this Mazda pickup and this creativity really shows. Danny used a little bit of his previous tuner knowledge and a lot of his custom ideas to build the super-clean show truck gracing these pages.
Starting with an '87 Mazda B2000 body with completely stock sheetmetal, Danny sat down to brainstorm with Hector Comucho, a close friend and fellow club member of Creative Styles NY. Knowing what already had to be done to keep up with times, Danny first performed the usual: shaved doors, gas door, taillights, and mirrors. Next, Danny and Hector body-dropped the cab 3-1/4 inches. Then the stock fenders were swapped out for a set of 4x4 fenders from a B2600i. The front bumper was swapped out for a Toyota 4Runner's chrome bumper and that was treated with a billet grille to match the full billet grille above. Inside the bed, Danny installed a set of custom wheeltubs and installed a fuel cell. After Kenish finished all of the bodywork, the truck was sent to Danny's buddy Richie, where he sprayed the truck PPG Lazer Red.
Inside the truck, Danny had his close friend Russ build custom sheetmetal door panels as well as a sheetmetal dash, both of which where painted to match the exterior of the truck and given tweed accents. Danny sits comfortably in his Mazda courtesy of Honda S2000 leather seats. The steering wheel was swapped out and replaced with a custom chrome smiley face. Under the noticeable features of the truck sits a custom-built frame from the motor back consisting of a dropped frame clip in the rear so that the bed did not have to be body-dropped. The frame is made from 14 feet of 2/3-inch box tubing. Mike Janson and Danny performed all of the modifications to the frame. The rearend in Danny's Mazda is out of a 1988 Toyota pickup truck. Danny's Mazda features a custom CCE Hydraulic setup using a custom two-bar kit and a custom rear shock setup. All this allows Danny's Mazda to tuck the 20-inch Neeper Titans.
Under the hood sits a powerhouse 2001 Honda S2000 motor. (Figure that one out.) To get this motor to work, Danny had to have a custom driveshaft built. The motor features a polished intake manifold, chrome-dipped valve covers, and a custom stainless steel header continuing on to a custom-built exhaust. An S2000 transmission was also swapped over.
