Back in the mid-90s, Hector Manrriquez was in high school and attending the local football games; trucks and cars were the last thing on his mind. At one point, he ended up spotting a red S-10 with a tilt bed that was all tricked out. Hector thought it was the coolest thing he had ever seen. Since he was about to buy a ride, this threw a mini-truck ballot into the mix.
At the start, Hector was into the lowrider scene, but the red S-10 he had seen was never far from his thoughts, and eventually, he decided to take the mini-truck plunge. His first endeavor into the mini domain was an '84 S-10 that he fixed up as a basic little cruiser. After reading magazines set his ambitions a little higher, he opted to join the B-squad and picked up a Mazda B-2200.
Hector picked up his Mazda in 1995 and has been working hard on it ever since. At one point, a car sideswiped the B-series into oblivion, and it was actually on the road to being totaled. With a little bit of luck, Hector was able to get his baby back and fix the damaged passenger side.
Even though nine or so years had gone by, Hector always kept the finished image of his truck in the back of his mind, knowing that one day, some high school kid would see his truck and feel the same way he had when he saw that red S-10 . Hector knew that the feeling he had when he was first introduced into the scene couldn't be replicated by anything else than another dope mini. Mission accomplished, Hector. Now go park your truck at the local high school football game. All the high school girls will go for the burning paint and the slammed stance. That feeling of high school cool is right around the corner.
