One essential aspect of memorable show trucks is an incredible graphic paint scheme; it can do plenty to help its owner win countless trophies at shows, but you can't just start from there. Nelson Zapata from Cypress, Texas, installs audio components for a living, and as he's used to performing flawless custom feats for others, it seemed appropriate that he would put the same kind of care into building his '93 Mazda standard cab B-series.
Nelson initially built his truck in 2001, but he would later have to redo most of it after having an unfortunate accident on the way to a show. Now, his '93 Mazda B-mini has just about everything shaved to clean up the exterior lines of the truck. Pat Maxwell sprayed the graphics all over the truck using House of Kolor paints. Maxwell's talents made the truck ever wilder than it had been before. But, we're getting a little ahead of ourselves, so let's dig a bit into the truck, shall we?
Remember we mentioned that Nelson installs audio components? Well, when it was time to move to the interior of the truck, Nelson installed a host of Audiobahn equipment, along with a Pioneer head unit at Texas Trenz in Houston. Meanwhile, Leather Trim Limited of Houston worked on wrapping tweed and leather over the seats, while Interiors by Dave worked fervently on a new center console for the truck.
Next, Nelson turned to Loco Motive's Bobby McMullen in Houston to put his Mazda flat on the ground. The truck was brought down with Firestone 'bags front and rear, and Billet Specialties Sniper wheels were installed at the corners. With the truck completed, Nelson has been showing his creation all over the Midwest and has won plenty of awards to line the shelves in his home. Unfortunately, the MT staff overlooked this truck several times, but we finally have it here for you to scope out. Sit back and take a look at all Nelson has accomplished.
