The great thing about the minitruck community is that over time you gain friends who share the same passions as you, and what first starts as a group of friends becomes a tight-knit family. For some like Brandy Booton, what starts as a hobby becomes a passionate lifestyle that can change any person’s life.

Brandy’s journey with the 1979 Ford Courier started out 8 years ago when he paid a measly 150 bucks for the tired, rust-ridden truck. To this day, the Ford Courier still adorns the original yellow and white two-tone paint that displays years of natural wear and tear. With inspiration from Mike McKinney of Dedicated Customs and Von Chounlamany of Laodies Kustomz who have both graced these pages with their creations, Brandy took a Ford truck that most would have taken to the scrapyard and has instead managed to create quite the neck-breaker out of it.

His biggest challenge over the years has been focusing on keeping up a “ratty” appearance, which of course started with its time-tested patina. The rear mono leaf cantilever setup built by Dave Belzer, was then constructed with materials that fit the Courier’s look to perfection. Up front, Von wired and installed a ’bag setup finishing up a combination that leaves the undercarriage of Brandy’s Ford getting all kinds of cozy with the pavement.

Even though building this truck has been a big accomplishment for Brandy, his club “The Family” and the friends that he’s made over the years have been the best thing about his minitruckin experience. Projects come and go but gaining personal connections is something that can be timeless and becomes the real reason we share such a passion for this community.
