Eric Foebler's 1999 S-10 definitely has an extended history. Over the course of seven years it has seen plenty of scrapes, dents, a cursed trailer, and more than its fair share of attention from Johnny Law.

None of those things kept him from finishing his truck, however, as help from friends and family kept the momentum going long enough to push the truck through a handful of paintjobs, five different interiors, and four sets of wheels.

Eric bought the S-10 in 2001 when it was stock, white, and boring. It wasn't long before it was dropped, the door handles were painted to match, and the tailgate was shaved. The Envoy clip you see now was next to go on, along with a set of 17s. The next iteration of the truck came a year later when Eric 'bagged the truck on 18s. A mere two weeks later and the truck was torn apart yet again, and everything was shaved (minus the sheetmetal bed floor) and the custom orange paint was applied. The truck was never meant to be a daily driver in that state, but Eric's beater was less than reliable, so the truck shuttled him to and from work more than he would have liked. The result, as Eric put it, involved several cases of, "hitting stuff and stuff hitting me," that had him replacing bumpers at a rate of about one per year, not to mention the damage done from dragging through wires and rubbing through brake lines. Then there's the inevitable inspection tickets, 36 to be exact, that helped Eric decide to build the truck one final time, just the way he wanted it.

Next, it was time for the frame work to be redone so Eric called upon DIB Customs for the chassis work and picked up his rebuilt frame in 2007--just in time for him and his buddy Pete Ryberg to begin work on the 31/4-inch stock-floor bodydrop. After several months of weekend and weeknights spent on the bodywork, including the new bed floor and moving the electrical system, the S-10 was tucking 20-inch Bonspeed Clutch wheels and was once again ready for paint. Fresh out of the paint booth and ready for its debut, Eric strapped the truck into an enclosed trailer and headed for Showcase Super Nats. En route, two of the straps broke and the freshly-finished bed was trashed. Too far into the project to be discouraged, Eric repaired and repainted the bed only to have a momentary lapse while buffing, force him to repaint the entire bed yet again.

After all of those setbacks we're actually a little surprised that the S-10 didn't succumb to the Mini Truckin' curse and blow a 'bag on the way to the shoot, but it looks like Eric is finally out of the woods with this one. Now that he's done, Eric is looking forward to working on something else, a project that's built only once and will hopefully never have to ride in the cursed trailer.
