If the name Shon Reece sounds familiar, that's because this isn't his first rodeo. In fact, his last feature truck, The Jaw Breaker, was a door-draggin' S-10 that was ahead of its time in many respects. That truck was definitely among the many amazing feature trucks that could have rightfully graced the cover. However, this gave Shon some fuel for the fire to go all-out on his next project. His guinea pig for a full-blown custom, with a goal of all or nothing, became this '84 two-door Chevy Blazer.
Now, if you've ever had the pleasure of talking with Shon, you know his demeanor and just how funny he can be. For example, in our tech sheet when asked what was the best part of building the truck, he simply replied "getting it done." And when asked about the worst part, his straightforward answer came out just as quickly, "trying to get it done!" Ha ha! We've all been there and know exactly what he's talking about. Shoot, if I had a peso for everytime someone asked me "So, when's it going to be done?" I'd have enough money to finish all 18 of my projects.
Besides the goal of going all-out this time to make the cover, Shon knew that he wanted a complete transformation, both inside and outside. To make that happen, Shon and his buddy, Jason, went to town on the inside of the truck by building an entire fiberglass dash and flowing center console. The theme here was very simple-completely wild! The duo spent more than 100 hours of airbrush time, outfitting every square-inch of the truck with insane graphics, from bio-mechanical to real fire. Nothing on Nek Breaker is normal or conventional, not even the suspension. Shon decided to go with hydros this time, and that is his only regret. If he could have done anything different, he "definitely would have went with airbags."
Well, after we came across Shon's insane Blazer, we knew that it was golden. Built entirely by the owner and a couple of close friends, this real-world mini was built minitrucker style-with plenty of blood, sweat, and beers! Insane? Yes. Wild? Most definitely.
