How to Body-DropThe trickle-down effect is the one scenario that mini-truckers know all too often. How many mini-truckers over the years do you know that branch off to old cars, hot rods, or fullsize trucks? Though it's apparent where their love lies with the style they adorn their new-found love with, they are gone nonetheless. Fortunately, a few of these old-school mini-truckers stick around with an iron fist and keep our sport going stronger than ever. Todd Honer is one such 40-year-old mini-trucker.
With his guinea pig '96 Chevy S-10 at his side, away the Sawzall would slice. With Mini Truckin' tech articles ripped out and taped to his windshield, away the guesswork would start. Pretty hardcore, you say? Yeah, but this is how Todd works. His entire mini has been touched by his own hands. The only part that needed shining was the finish work, which was performed by his best friend, Les.
Thankfully, Todd trusts his work, as Relentless is driven daily. We don't mean he drives it when he feels like it and drives it to shows. We mean this is the truck that is driven to work day in and day out. To make matters even more drastic, guess where Todd's S-10 rest when he's not using it - outside, in the driveway. Relentless laughs at the rain and all of the other harmful elements that are thrown at it. Maybe Todd is getting a little too comfortable with the fact that his best friend sprays gloss when he's bored.
Since Todd has been a mini-trucker since '84, one becomes hard-pressed to express how down someone must be to stick through the ups and downs of mini-truckin'. How strange it must have been to adapt to the changing fads: bubblegum and heartbeat graphics, and the birth of the ultimate lows. Todd's first truck, a brand-spanking-new-body-style Nissan 720, was hugging mean pavement while getting bumped down by blocks and having cranked torsions. As Todd's seventh mini, and his most custom and complete one to date, we're sure that this will make his choice to stick with us punk-ass mini-truckers one that he will not regret.
