Seeing the title of this story should grab the attention of the average perv. If that doesn't do the job, then Lakewood, California, resident Tom McWeeney and his sick '96 S-10 will. Taking hold of the '50s and applying it in a stylish and accepted way is not an easy task. Tom has pulled off several old-school styling cues that even the most seasoned street rodder would be jealous of.
Being a mini-trucker for 15 years as well as having his father's hot-rod influence has given Tom good taste in rides, as well good taste in movies. We say movies due to the multiple pinup-style Jenna Jameson murals throughout the truck. We all love us some Jenna.
Tom's truck sports most of the basic shavings and custom work as others but also takes a trip back in time to when Jenna's parents were born. The old-school flavor such as the scallops and grille emblem look so comfortable on the S-10, that it's hard to believe that we haven't seen more of it. The vintage stylings flow into the interior without hesitation, as a '56 Chevy steering wheel takes center stage to set the precedence. A video system was added so Tom could watch his favorite actress in action on those long trips.
Working at corporate Line-X gives you a hint as to what the bed floor would be treated with. The bed floor and custom tubs are smothered in Line-X and topcoated with pearl white to match the scallops. The XXX crossmember staring at you from out of the bed floor screams, "I like cinema!"
We salute Tom and his gamble to make a true retro-custom out of a late-model mini. We also salute Tom for his good taste in movies and having a buddy that could paint good murals. XXX Sled is one vividly wicked mini. As Tom's fifth custom, we can't wait to see what he builds next. Now get out of here, you perverts.
