There is an old adage that says those who ignore the past are doomed to repeat it. Of course, whoever coined this phrase probably meant it to be applied to world leaders, presidents, dictators, and those who control the fate of mankind, not the average Joe mini-trucker. But if the adage is true and the present is a representation of a forgotten past, then what can we say about Louisiana resident Roger Miller?
His '95 Chevy S-10 is the third truck that he's built and had featured in a magazine. Does this mean Roger ignored his past achievements to come up with new ones? Did he feverishly study his previous efforts, manipulating the formula for success until a better variation came to fruition? We conclude that Roger is quite the history buff, especially when it comes to his own vehicles.
For the past 20 years, Roger has been involved in this sport in one way or another and is currently the president of Midnight Fantasies Car and Truck Club. He began amassing feature fame in 1997 with the publication of his Blazer in Truckin' magazine. Tapping into the magic formula that produced his show-winning '85 S-10 Blazer and trophy-taking '97 Chevy 1/2-ton truck, Roger once again created a masterpiece that demands our attention.
You don't build the caliber of vehicles that Roger does overnight, and the attention to detail that is present in his latest ride isn't something that comes easily. This time, though, Roger needed only six months to finish what he calls, "The Legend of Enchantment." This truck tops his previous rides with painstaking details, such as the triple chrome-plated billet interior accents and awe-inspiring graphic paintwork. THE LOWDOWN
Chassis/Suspension:
Ekstensive Metalworks of Houston got the nod to lay out Roger's mini. It began by installing Belltech drop spindles in the front suspension and a flip kit in the rear. Firestone airbags were then installed along with relocated Gabriel gas shocks to bring the mini down to Mother Earth.
Wheels/Tires Wheel:
Spacers were necessary to mount the 18-inch Elite Barb wheels and 225/40R18 rubber bands.
Body Mods:
A cowl-induction hood gives the front of this mini a menacing look. A Snugtop tonneau cover works well with the molded-in roll pan and the shaved tailgate handle to smooth out the rear. Ludwig's Airbrushing of Rayne, Louisiana, shaved the door handles and tailgate handle as well as molded the roll pan into the bed.
Custom Paint/Graphics:
Ludwig's Airbrushing sprayed a base of Raspberry Pearl from House of Kolors and then followed up with a dizzying array of colors, forming the complete medieval theme of the truck.
Interior:
George's Upholstery of Lake Charles, Louisiana, is responsible for the gray and maroon tweed interior. George's also scratch-built the center console to flow with the billet interior accessories and the billet Fang steering wheel.
Audio/Video System:
Peter Fruge of Lake Charles built the custom subwoofer enclosure that houses a pair of 12-inch JL Audio subs. He also mounted midbass drivers and tweeters in the doors to round out the audio spectrum. A pair of Rockford Fosgate amplifiers powers the system, and an all-Pioneer video system plays both CDs and DVDs.
