Beautiful scenery, amazing weather, impressive custom vehicles, and gorgeous women-these four factors defined our weeklong trip to the first-annual Streetdreams Showdown event on the tropical island of Oahu.
Based on the final attendance numbers, this first-year show pulled in a crowd that most veteran car shows would envy, but that was the objective all along for promoters Thomas Sampaga and George Calaro of Xtreme Kreationz and Drip Industries. Uniting the import tuner, lowrider, motorcycle, and sport truck scenes of Hawaii and luring them to one location turned out to be a bigger success than either anticipated. Another unique feature that Streetdreams Showdown holds over other shows is all in its timing. The event started at 3 p.m. and rolled on just a little past midnight, giving spectators a true taste of tropical nightlife during the second half of the show. Nothing beats walking down rows of customs while being cooled by a soothing ocean breeze. Do yourself a favor and check out next year's show-nothing would complement a vacation in paradise better.
