If you remember Texas Showdown from last year, you might remember the jam packed Sam Houston Race Park filled with hundreds of slammed trucks. You might also remember the torrential rain and where you ran for cover during the down pours.
But one thing everyone remembers is how good of a show Texas Showdown has been and 2008 was no exception. With the backing of Heatwave, this show managed to grow dramatically in size in just one year. It was easy to see the increase in size over previous years as roll in Saturday morning brought hundreds of trucks waiting to get through the gates and into the show. The staff managed to get the long lines inside as quickly as possible but the lines could be seen all day, as entrants and spectators alike, packed the show grounds in anticipation. With a solid show field, huge vendor alley, and massive amounts of spectators, Showdown grew to an almost legendary status almost overnight. Top off the weekend with burnout contests, games, and DJs spinning the latest sounds, and one could definitely feel the new owner's presence in an already familiar atmosphere.
With amazingly clear weather, Texas Showdown founder, Darryl Tracy, wasn't joking when he said that this year wouldn't include all the rain, and he couldn't have been more correct. For more information on next year's show, check out the Texas Showdown website TexasShowdown.com.
