Patrick Reid's Ranger has seen many different faces, but this time he really out-did himself. This latest version features a bigger body drop, a V-8 engine, and some really awesome body mods that you have to look twice to notice.
The Second Annual Texas Extreme Truck Show was held at the Texas Ski Ranch in New Braunfels, Texas. The 2004 show kicked off the second time around that extreme rides and extreme sports were all rolled into one huge event. We thought it might be hard to top the first year, because the Ski Ranch had its grand opening the same weekend, but we were wrong. Since the new cable park is now a regular source of entertainment and activity, many spectators gathered to witness all kinds of cool trucks paired with some of the best extreme-sport athletes out there.
The Texas Ski Ranch is home to numerous athletes day in and day out because of its multifunctional areas that accommodate wakeboarding and motorcycle freestyling, as well as track riding, bike riding, skateboarding, and rollerblading. Any athlete, from beginner to pro, can enjoy his or her favorite sport using the cable lake, motorcross track, or skate park. Many professional athletes train and practice all day long to perfect their next patented move. Every park at the Ski Ranch was open to showgoers so they could try the cable wakeboarding or grab their skateboard and bust out in the skate park. It was way tight to chill out for a bit and watch the cable wakeboarders catch major air. There was plenty of cool stuff going on all weekend long to keep everyone occupied.
Aside from the awesome venue, another great thing about this show is that it's dedicated to showing off slammed and lifted trucks. This means that there's no weaving in and out of row after row of import-tuner ricer rides, and we went about our business gawking over some kickass slammed minis. Cash awards were given out for all sorts of things, beside the ongoing raffles and bikini contest. With cover-model Niki Zeno in the booth signing posters, it seemed as though the magazine booths drew larger crowds than some of the laid-out mini-trucks across the showgrounds.
The show was a lot of fun, and maybe this year we'll actually have time (and the guts) to try the cable wakeboarding.
