One thing that can be said about the people who take part in the minitruckin' lifestyle is that they have a never ending dedication to the shows that they love. No matter the distance or the weather, if it's an event they enjoy attending, they will make an appearance. This is something I've learned in the 10-plus years I've been doing this freelancing gig and it spits in the face of anyone saying that the scene is dead. My example to you: Spring Fling 2012 in Panama City Beach, Florida, held by Vital Signs Street Designs.
When you think of spring break in Florida you think of sandy beaches and more sunshine than you can shake a bottle of tanning lotion at, but you have to remember this is the south and the weather is as unpredictable as a college co-ed after a keg stand. This year's unplanned weather turned out to be rain and a lot of it in the days leading up to Saturday. This had little to no effect on the Spring Fling diehards who showed up from all over the country, some driving as many as 14 hours to make it. The rain turned the show grounds into a mud slushfest but no one seemed to care, and I never heard one single whine or complaint about it the whole time.
Sunday proved to be a picture-perfect spring break day, managing to dry out some of the more mud-filled areas and paving the way for numerous activities at the show including club games and the world-famous Miss Spring Fling bikini contest. All of this combined with the massive amount of rides that cruised in made for one awesome weekend...
