Not even record-setting flooding of the Mississippi River could hold the Assorted Minis crew down as they scrambled to save ShowFest from the rising water levels just weeks before the show time. With the Sam’s Town casino floor under water in Tunica, Mississippi, the event was moved down the street to the Harrah’s hotel area. Even though the flooded area was just across the road from where the showgrounds were set up, everything and everyone remained dry thanks to the levee that stands in between the two locations.
As far as the turnout is concerned, people from all over still flocked to the show from every direction of the country. Throughout the weekend, the grounds were packed with 525 vehicles, vendors who traveled across multiple state lines, and 4,800 spectators who decided to brave the trip despite the grim reports from local and worldwide media outlets. These numbers just go to show that a natural disaster does have the ability to slow things down, but it will never have enough force to stop us.
