Freak Show IX was another amazing show. Even with the down economy, minitruckers came out in full force to show a little freak side.
With double the vehicle entrants of the previous year, this year's show really blew up in size. This year there was a huge cash purse for the Best of Show winners, who walked away with a combined cash take-home of $2,000. In addition to that, there was another $3K total to be had and free sets of wheels given away by RNR Custom to the top three winners. People poured into the grounds as early as Thursday, and then as always the gates stayed opened to everyone all night. There was a constant line of people coming into the show, right up till early Sunday afternoon.
DropJaw offers VIP passes that entitle the wearers great spots for all the action. Cruisin' also goes late into the night, and the campsites were poppin' into the wee hours of the morning. The beer pong tournament was legendary, and Big Dave ended up being the beer pong ref. DJ Disco has been doing the other DropJaw shows like The Big Show and Draggin' Nats, but this was his first year out to the Freak Show.
As most of us know, once you go to the freak side, you never come back. Animated Attractions had their 20-year anniversary at this year's Freak Show, which made it extra special for the AA crew.
