All hail the return of one of the biggest and baddest shows in the county. This year, Showfest came back with a vengeance.
After taking a couple of years off to regroup, most of us having been praying for the day that the infamous Showfest would return, but with a new location we weren't really sure what to expect. As a back-to-back Show of the Year winner, it had a huge reputation to live up to, and even though a storm loomed overhead the participants rolled in day and night until the show grounds were popping with excitement.
On Friday, we were lucky enough to roll into the event in a big rig with our friend Carlos. We even took out a couple of lights in the valet area, but we were anxious to check in and meet up with friends. Saturday morning the show was off the hook! So many cover trucks, so many feature trucks, big and small, there were killer rides as far as the eye could see. The show staff was organized and friendly, and even though it was fairly hot the spectators were in high spirits.
After a full day of checking out rides and the events at the LSOH booth, we were excited to see how the night's festivities would hold up to Greenville's reputation. This wasn't just a parking lot party like before, there was a live band on stage near the biggest bar and the party continued until the sun came up. Nothing beats hanging with friends from throughout the Southern and Eastern states.
On Sunday, the show picked up where it left off and it was soon followed by the awards show. We hear the dates for Showfest 2011 will be announced soon, and we look forward to going back to party and show in Tunica as the king of shows is here to stay.
