It's called Siknic, and as the name hints, it is the sickest picnic on earth! It's the brainchild of Greg Miller (Scrapin' the Coast) and BJ Mills (Pandemonium) and was held at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, Louisiana.
Their plan was to put on a two-day event in a laid-back atmosphere, where everyone could get together, camp, hangout, and just have a good time. Come Friday there were plenty of folks that had come very well prepared for a campout. Everyone was hanging out, having a few beverages, and eating whatever beast they could fit on their Weber. This place already had the makings of a great show and we couldn't wait to see what the rest of the weekend would bring.
Saturday morning came a little too early, but the weather proved to be perfect and the rides were already pouring into the showgrounds. There was tons of vendors on-hand to resupply you with everything from shirts to Schlitz. After Saturday's show festivities, foods and fluids were in plentiful supply and it wasn't long before the Siknic Beer Pong World Series began and we've never heard more jabs referencing someone's mama in one night. As you can guess, the good times rolled in Louisiana that night.
Sunday's weather proved to be just as good as the day before and the final show day was a mellow one. The Siknic weekend was truly one of the most fun weekends we've had. Hats are off to Greg and BJ for putting on one helluva show, and congrats to Shorty for taking home the MT Choice Award. Keep your eyes peeled to the Siknic MySpace page at myspace.com/siknic for details on this year's event!
