Once again, the second weekend of March rolled around and the road-trip-weary travelers that are known to everyone as "spring breakers" converged on Panama City Beach, Florida, and hot on their heels was another mass of road warriors that we all affectionately know as draggers. Yes, boys and girls, it was again time for Spring Fling hosted by Vital Signs Street Designs.
Florida's beautiful March weather welcomed a mass of 750 entries to this year's event, along with over 10,000 spectators that packed Frank Brown Park for two action-packed days. Besides the fact that there were more entries this year than ever before, there were also more vendors than before, with over 25 booths set up around the grounds. Companies like Suicide Doors, Drop 'Em, and tons of others, were there helping anyone out that had some cash burning a hole in their pocket. Full Throttle Energy Drink was also there handing out free samples to help keep the crowd's thirst quenched. There were even games and a moonwalk tent set up to give the little mini-truckers something to do all day. The Vital Signs crew spared no expense this year, even bringing in a huge stage that allowed for a steady stream of local bands to provide some great live entertainment all weekend long; and to keep the party going on Saturday night, Vital Signs had the pool deck at the world-famous Club LeVela night club reserved for all the guys and gals that participated in the show.
Topping off an excellent weekend on Sunday was some more great weather and, of course, the Miss Spring Fling bikini contest, which gave out over $1,500 in cash and prizes to three lucky ladies and even helped some local charities by auctioning off a judge's spot for the contest for $200. A charity auction held after the bikini contest helped to up this year's contribution, and Vital Signs would like to thank everyone involved that helped make this year's charity-driven event possible: Comcast, Sommer Sound Systems, Panama City Toyota and Panama City Scion, and many, many others. They would especially like to thank everyone that came out and attended and hope to see everyone back again next year. Plans are already underway for it, so keep your eyes on www.vitalsigns.org and www.springflingcarshow.com for more details.
