Even before Showfest 2003 in Greenville, Mississippi, was underway, minis were showing up in town by the hundreds, covering the city in anticipation of the event hosted by Assorted Miniatures. Rather than just tell you about the event, we thought we'd show you a bit of the goings-on in town before and after the show during the late afternoon and evening.

As in years past, the Greenville police department was fairly lenient with the mini-truckers who invaded their small town for the weekend, but there were exceptions. If you wanted to cruise up and down the main strip in Greenville from dusk to dawn, the police had no problem with you. The local po-po even tolerated some dragging over the weekend. However, when cruising the streets of Greenville turned into singular or head-to-head speed trials up and down the street, or when someone decided to do a pre-stage burnout or spin their ride in a doughnut for the crowd, you could be certain there would be a police officer right behind you in a heartbeat.

The show turnout this year was so enormous that virtually every hotel within a 25-30 mile radius of Greenville was booked solid for months before the event. A few lucky individuals (us included) were somehow able to slide into vacancies, and we were lucky enough to be right in the middle of the evenings' happenings throughout the weekend. All of this mini-trucker occupation meant one thing for sure: The nightlife in Greenville was going to explode for the duration of the weekend!

Without further delay, check out some of the shots we snapped of fellow mini-truckers cruising, dragging, and kickin' it on the streets of Greenville. We're sure that after seeing what fun was to be had in Greenville, you'll be calling one of the hotels in town and booking your room reservation early for Showfest 2004.
