Jay Christian and his Show-n-Shine Promotions group close their summer car and truck show series each year with their final stop at Colonial Mall in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The three-show touring series is sponsored by Drop 'Em Wear? and Auto Add Ons.
There was a great turnout for the last event of the tour. It seems that everyone loves to flock to Myrtle Beach for shows. In many ways, Myrtle Beach is very similar to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, except that Pigeon Forge doesn't have a beach. The Pavilion area is a great place to spend the evening cruising and showing off your ride. More than 300 vehicles made the trek to the beach this year from ten different states up and down the East Coast. As far as show categories, there were more than 100 different classes in three divisions. For participants who followed the show series, they found they had accumulated points towards their Class Championship, which is awarded at the Myrtle Beach show.
Christian and his judges really had a tough time picking the top winners because there were so many great vehicles that came to participate in the show. Some of the best rides were displayed inside the Colonial Mall. Those owners who got to show indoors were really happy, since the mall is air conditioned and has easy access to food, shopping, and other things to do if they want to take a break from the show action.
Besides Drop 'Em Wear? and Auto Add Ons, there were plenty of other vendors that you could buy products from, including T-zaks Wireless, Ironman 4x4, Triple Threat Tire and Wrecker, and Art Master, which made custom graphics for you right on the spot.
Around 5 p.m., most of the show's entrants began hitting the streets to grab dinner and get their cruise on until well after the sun went down. Later, under the cover of darkness, many returned to the mall parking lot for a neon contest.
The next day judging continued, and when the staff finished tallying the points and narrowing down those who most deserved to win, the Show-n-Shine staff began to announce the show's trophy winners as well as the series' champions. More than 100 classes, each with a First, Second, and Third place, and 30 Specialty awards for each division were announced as well as the Top 25 Daily Drivers awards. Just about every participant went home with a trophy. There were a large number of clubs that assembled for Bash at the Beach. A total of 67 varied clubs made the trek together to represent their various custom organizations. Since this was the last show of a championship series, the Club of the Year winner was determined by the total number of points collected at each show by the individual clubs who went to each show. This year, Intense Images of West Virginia took home the coveted 5-foot trophy for Club of the Year. Who drove the farthest to attend the show? That would be Ben Stinnett, who drove 662 miles from Louisville, Kentucky. He received $166.00 for his efforts.
The total point winners for the touring series went to Bill Sine of West Virginia in the Street Division, Sam Henne of Pennsylvania in the Show Division ,and Johnny Ventura of North Carolina in the Pro Division.
If you have attended any of the Show-n-Shine Promotions events, then you know their shows are great fun. Bash at the Beach is one of the largest, and it maintains a large following. Jay and his group do a great job putting on the series. Besides the three shows at Winchester and Stauton, Virginia, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Jay has plans for shows in Daytona Beach, Florida, and Baltimore, Maryland.
