Midwest Dragfest 2006 - Custom Truck Show

With Greenville's Showfest fading off into the sunset the talk that's been on everyone's mind is which show will take its place. Well, let us be the first to say that even though Showfest may be gone, it will never be forgotten. And while no one show could ever take its place, there are many up and coming shows that will definitely help fill the void.

Midwest Dragfest is one of the newest shows to step up to the plate and put on a weekend event that is sure not to disappoint. With some of the Midwest's finest rides, this show continues to grow with the support of all the down mini-truckers that make this scene worthwhile. With almost 300 custom vehicles filling the showgrounds, there was plenty to gawk at all weekend long. Over 2,500 people came out from all over the country to see all the gorgeous rides, and even those still in primer making a name for themselves came out for a good time with friends and family.

Even though the weather was heating up on Saturday, it got even hotter when it came time for the infamous bikini contest. And even though the Midwest Dragfest crew are a great bunch of guys, who knows what they were thinking letting RJ emcee it? (HAHA) It was definitely good times! Brianna took home first place after the defending champ decided not to compete. After a great day of dope rides, and plenty of vendors hawking gear at major show prices, it was time to head off to dinner and back to the party at the Show Me Kourt (aka Donkey Punch Inn). It was an awesome nightlife with draggin'...the whole nine. It was wild, almost like G-ville four or five years ago without the locals.

Then the weather decided to help us out with some rain late Saturday night to cool the temperature down for Sunday. With all the club games, the weather couldn't have been better for the fierce competition. With the awards ceremony came many happy custom truck owners, including Mike Brosch with the blue Mazda, who not only took home the one-off "Best of Show" trophy built by our buddy Shawn Arcidino from Sick Side Kustoms, but also received the Mini Truckin' Editor's Choice award.
