Spring Bash 2006 was held in Lawton, Oklahoma, over the April Fools Day weekend at the Great Plains Expo and Coliseum. This show has been held by the members of Sweet Temptationz car club for the last 15 years. Just as in years past, the show continues to grow and has been the place where many choose to debut what they have been working on all winter. When we got to the showgrounds Friday night many members of Pleasures and Lower Level had already made their way to the Coliseum and had started setting up for the long weekend. At the end of registration on the first night, parking was already starting to fill up inside and many people were still pulling in, and the hotels were beginning to fill up with all kind of killer rides.
On Saturday morning the gate opened at 6 a.m. and there was already a line starting to form before the sun had even come up. Many vendors (including BAD, Auto Trendz, C-Kustmz, and Drop 'Em Wear) were setting up their booths to display all their new products for the 2007 show season before the crowds could make their way to the show. With the showgrounds filling up and the noon cut-off for registration fast approaching, many of the show participants were doing the last bit of detailing on their trucks before it was time for the judges to make their way around the show. The Sweet Temptationz crew had many events planed to help pass the afternoon, with the USACI sound competition, women's wrestling, and, of course, the bikini contest.
When the show came to a close on Saturday it seemed like everyone found their way to Sheridan Road, where you could see almost everything at the show making as many passes up and down the strip as they could get in. The Domination crew had the regularly scheduled drag session planned, but Mother Nature took care of that, along with the cruising that was still going on. With one of the worst storms that has hit the area in a year, the streets of Lawton became rivers. When the storm moved on that night, many people headed back to the hotels and began the evening festivities. Before everyone headed out to Dragons West, many took a few last belly slides across the mud-covered hotel infield.
When Sunday came around, it was time for the annual Sweet T hopping contest, and it's not all hydraulics anymore. When it was all over they had more bagged trucks competing than they have ever had in the past. After the last of the events came to a close it was time to move on to the awards and the BAD Billet "Best of Show" trophies. Brian Jackson took home the honor of "Best Mini-Truck" with his freshly body-dropped 2001 S-10.
