The Aftermath guys took a couple years off to make sure they could find a better location and be a little more organized for a smoother-running show. This year, they moved it a little farther North to the Riverside Park in Vero Beach, Florida. The venue is a huge grass lot that allows for plenty of room to grow. While sitting in the airport on the way there, watching the news, they were talking about this weekend being the opening of hurricane season and that there was a tropical storm moving up the Florida coast. What better way to start a show than waiting on rain and strong winds to move through? A quick pass through the show site, on the way to the hotel Friday night, revealed a flooded, swampy field.
Expecting the worst for Saturday, we couldn't have been more surprised when the show grounds were actually bone dry. The fact that it hadn't rained in several months was a major factor, and it looked promising for the show to be a success. Vehicles kept rolling in all weekend and things ran super-smooth, thanks to the Aftermath crew. Adding one more funny show story for the campfire: A group of minitruckers took over a local bar-complete with a big screen TV with a bullet hole in it, a crane machine full of adult novelties and toys, and a 60-year-old guy singing karaoke. The locals didn't know what to think when we all walked in. It was probably the busiest they had ever been. Make sure to check out the Show Lowdown for all the show info.
