The Australian mini-truck scene is still young compared to here in the states, yet it doesn't seem that way. The minitruckers there are building some top-notch customs and the clubs are hosting some amazing events. One event in particular is Half Way Havoc hosted by Ground Level Customs. This was the 10th annual HWH and according to the organizer Nathan Hawkins, it was the best so far and we couldn't agree with him more.
We started our journey by flying into Brisbane. The weather was not on our side as the rain was coming down hard. This didn't spoil the 20 or so trucks that took on the six-hour cruise down to the Macksville Showground to meet the rest of the participants. HWH differs from most Australian events as you camp out on the grounds instead of getting a hotel.
The entire show is held on grass and as wet as it was it didn't seem to bother anyone at all. People were walking around checking out the amazing rides that had been brought from all over the country. One of the highlights on Saturday was the club games, the mud and very damp conditions brought out the die-hard guys from each club. Vendors such as The Chop Shop, GrinderTV, Bio Kustomz, and Shannon's Insurance were on hand displaying and selling goods.
All in all, the weekend was a huge success and we can't wait to come back and do it all over again. If you are ever planning an Australian getaway, you should book it while HWH is going on. We're sure your wife won't notice the tent you're packing in your luggage.
