The First Texas Extreme Truck Show was held at the Texas Ski Ranch in New Braunfels, Texas, on September 27-28. This show was set to go off in a big way; not only was it the first year for the show, but the Texas Ski Ranch was simultaneously throwing its Grand Opening party. Besides all the sweet trucks in attendance, most successful shows have another big thing in common - wild entertainment. Not to be outdone, the Texas Extreme Truck Show pulled out all the stops, and with the much-appreciated help of its sponsors, the Texas Ski Ranch and the Stressed Environment Club, the show was a huge hit.
The Texas Ski Ranch is home to many athletes day in and day out with multifunctional areas that accommodate wakeboarding, skiing, and motorcycle freestyle riding, as well as track riding, bike riding, skateboarding, and rollerblading. From beginners to pros, any athlete can enjoy their favorite sport using the Cable Lake, the motorcross track, and the skate park. Many professional athletes come to the Texas Ski Ranch to train and practice the patented moves they'll pull out for the next big competition. This weekend, showgoers were given all access to the Ski Ranch parks, where many gave the cable wakeboarding a try, busted out in the skate park, and cooled off in the lake while watching others catch major wakeboarding air. With so much cool stuff happening around the place, we almost forgot to take pictures - almost.
Aside from the awesome venue, this show was solely dedicated to the showing of slammed or lifted trucks. There was no weaving in and out of row after row of import tuner racer rides, and we went about our business of gawking over some mighty-fine slammed minis. Cash awards were given out for all sorts of things, including the ongoing raffles and ever-present bikini contest. In the Mini Truck Wild Custom Class, Patrick Reed's badass Ranger took First Place along with $100. Rick Suarez followed up for Second Place and $50, and Lonnie Allbritton's Antifreeze-Green Mazda took home Third.
Sunday's bikini contest naturally drew the biggest crowd of the entire show. Seven ladies duked it out for their share of the $700 pot; maybe that's why there was such a huge crowd. The contest was judged on the basis of good looks by a few judges, and, of course, the crowd. One of our cover models, Nikki Zeno, took home the $500 First Place prize. After the hot bikini contest, the lake once again came in handy.
All in all, the show was a lot of fun, and hopefully next year we'll be able to stand up on the wakeboard.
