Once again, the Properly Grounded crew pulled off its annual Slam Jam. The seventh version of the show was held at Clays Park Resort, a water park in Canal Fulton, Ohio. Saturday morning, hundreds of rides rolled in the gates and registered. There were a wide variety of vehicles, from door-dragging minis to sky-scraping 4x4s -- this show had it all!
Once registered, participants completed the final touch-ups on their rides before lining up for the drive-through judging set up by Properly Grounded. Once in the judging tent, the knowledgeable show staff picked the best of the best to receive one of the club's many awards. After your ride was cleaned and judged, you wandered along the vendor row to pick up some of the newest accessories. For some relief from the heat, many simply wandered over to the water park, which offered water slides and other wet attractions to the sun-beaten masses.
With so much to do, it wasn't long before the day was spent and the sun setting. Soon, the Properly Grounded staff was preparing the stage for one of the largest bikini contests we've been to. Once the ladies finished parading around the stage, awards were given out to those who had most impressed the crowd and the bikini-contest judges.
Following the bikini content, many gathered as Gauge set up a bunch of its DJ equipment and hosted a lifestyle party. Once the Gauge crew finished, the music rocked the park through the wee hours of the night. The fun was only interrupted when the crowd either stopped paying attention to watch someone drag their ride through the area or perform crazy stunts in the crowd.
Early Sunday morning, clubs once again prepared their rides, as well as their campsites and other areas from the previous night's festivities. For those not previously judged, the staff set up again to go over the vehicles with a fine-toothed comb before the selections were made for the final tallies. While the participants anxiously awaited the awards ceremony, there was live music on the Properly Grounded stage.
In all, Properly Grounded's Slam Jam was a blast. Make sure you mark your calendars for next year's show, and check out www.properlygrounded.com for more information.
