Each year, Pleasures Trucks and Compacts, a club out of Oklahoma City, has been throwing its own version of a fun-filled weekend called Slamboree. For the past four years or so, we here at Mini Truckin' have been attending this show to make sure we don't miss a single killer custom in the Midwest.

Each year the show is thrown and the proceeds are donated to the charity of Pleasures, The American Diabetes Association. This year was no exception, with a few hundred vehicles showing up for their chance to support a worthy cause and party like only Pleasures can.

In previous years, Slamboree has gained popularity because it's one of the last major shows of the show season that's put on exclusively by a mini-truck club. There are no show promoters involved with the show whatsoever, so the club works its ass off to make sure that everyone makes the trip. This year, it was true to form and gave everyone who came to the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City plenty of good times and an enjoyable weekend to show, relax, and have a blast.

Vehicles began lining up outside the show field area Pleasures had set up early on Saturday morning for Slamboree. The lineup was still solid when your friendly MT staffers showed up around 10 a.m. to begin photographing the event. By around noon, however, the Pleasures crew had gotten everyone interested in showing at Slamboree processed, classed, and put into place on the show field so that its judging staff could get through the classes of show rides more easily and get onto what really matters: enjoying the company of other mini-truckers.

The first day of the show was spent looking around at other rides parked throughout the area of the Fairgrounds set aside for Pleasures' shindig, while at the front of the venue, the Pleasures staff had its DJ stand/public humiliation center. From there, the Pleasures guys and gals made all of their announcements, gave away raffle prizes, and made things fun for all with hard-hitting grooves being spun all weekend long. After the show was over for Saturday, most left the show field and headed out looking for any sort of OKC nightlife they could find, or for a long snooze session before they came back for the second day of showing at the fairgrounds.

On Sunday, Pleasures finished up what classes it had left to judge and started announcing classes in the afternoon. To many attendees' delight, the awards started and ended early, allowing them plenty of time to get on the road and head back to their homes all over the Midwest and beyond. We here at MT are draggin' out a very special thank you to Pleasures for throwing a really fun and relaxing event just when everyone in the Midwest really needed it the most: near the end of the 2002 show season.
