Welcome to yet another primered appearance of The Construction Zone. We hope that by seeing more unfinished rides in the raw you'll come up with some new ideas of your own to complete the ride that's collecting cobwebs in your garage. We can definitely use your help to get the word out that every show-stopper was once a primer and guidecoat-covered beast with mods galore. If you have a ride that's not quite done but makes you want to shave, suicide, or chop something every month, then peep out the photos we use here for The Zone and snap some of your own. Send them to us here at Mini Truckin' c/o The Construction Zone, 774 S. Placentia Ave., Placentia, CA 92870-6846. You may find yourself among the few, the proud, the unpainted. We wish you the best of luck and ingenuity until your own ride is painted and taking Best Of trophies. Now sit back and check out the newest inductees into The Construction Zone.
| OWNER’S NAME: | Ryan Cavanaugh |
| YEAR & MAKE: | ’98 Chevy S-10 Extended Cab, three-door |
| LOCATION: | Newark, Delaware |
| CLUB AFFILIATION: | Low Rollers |
Wheels: 18- and 20-inch Billet Specialties wrapped in rubber bands. Suspension: Fully adjustable suspension on airbags made possible by Phil Fowler and the crew at Drop Werks. The rear of the truck has been notched and tubbed to allow the 20s plenty of room. Modifications: Ryan dealt with Emeheiser's Auto Body when it was time to smooth the truck's body out. This task included shaving the door handles, the taillights, the mirrors, the stock gas filler location (replaced by a Hagan's pop-up filler in the driver-side bed corner), rounding out the bed, modifying the new Envoy front clip, dropping in the sliding rag, installing a suicide passenger door, bolting on the Goodmark cowl-induction hood, and shaving out the tailgate area of the truck. Ryan wouldn't elaborate much on his new taillights, though. Interior: The interior of Ryan's truck is just as sweet as the outside. The tweed-wrapped interior sports 3-D graphics, flame gauges, pillar pods for air management, two 10-inch Kicker subwoofers with a DEI-1100 amp, and various billet pieces throughout. Misc: Speedliner spray-in bedliner, chrome differential cover, and a 3-3/4-inch body drop. Project Notes: Ryan would like to thank Drop Werks, Emeheiser's Auto Body, his girlfriend Amanda, and all the people who've pitched in. Plans for this clean ride include a 20-22 combination on wheels, a clean paintjob, and some chroming under the hood. Completion Date: Never!
| OWNER’S NAME: | Josh Frachiseur |
| YEAR & MAKE: | '90 Toyota standard cab |
| LOCATION: | Auburn, Georgia |
Wheels: 18x7-inch BCoddington Blaster wheels.Suspension: Airbagged at all four corners, tubular notch, chrome four-link, lowered shocks, tubs in the back, and a pile of scrap parts from under the hood. Mods: The obvious mod at first glance is the 4-inch body drop, but there's more to this truck. The shaved doors, wiper cowl, taillights (replaced with Cadillac lights), mirrors, corner lights, gas door, tailgate area, and bodyline under the back window have all been worked smooth. Under the hood, the firewall has been worked on to allow the 18s to tuck deeply. The inside of the bed has also been smoothed and accented with some nice lines. The bed is home to the new gas filler and chrome cap. Interior: Josh's interior is very clean with a Momo steering wheel, a polished shifter, some tweed, and MIC air controls. Project Notes: Josh would like to thank Jody Hall of the Drop Shop in Pikesville, Kentucky, for performing all the work on his Toyota. Josh also says that there's more to come, and we look forward to seeing it. Completion Date: "Never! A truck is never done."
