Welcome to yet another primered appearance of The Construction Zone. We hope that by seeing more unfinished rides in the raw you'll come up with some new ideas of your own to complete the ride that's collecting cobwebs in your garage. We can definitely use your help to get the word out that every show-stopper was once a primer and guidecoat-covered beast with mods galore. If you have a ride that's not quite done but makes you want to shave, suicide, or chop something every month, then peep out the photos we use here for The Zone and snap some of your own. Send them to us here at Mini Truckin' c/o The Construction Zone, 774 S. Placentia Ave., Placentia, CA 92870-6846. You may find yourself among the few, the proud, the unpainted. We wish you the best of luck and ingenuity until your own ride is painted and taking Best Of trophies. Now sit back and check out the newest inductees into The Construction Zone.
Modifications: Include shaved handles, taillights, antenna, roof seams, gas door, Isuzu Hombre fenders were added and stretched shaving the corners in the process. The tailgate area was sealed up and includes LED lights and an angled license plate box. Inside the bed, smooth sheetmetal was added to give that area more of a custom touch. A Britax 30x36-inch sliding rag top was added so the sun could shine in. Up front, a fullsize bumper has been sectioned and smoothed.
Chassis: Airbags mounted front and rear provide suspension ajustability for everyday driving. Under the bed, the frame has been extended to accommodate a long bed that was added and a reverse triangulated four-link was installed.
Wheels & Tires: 18x7-inch Boyd Coddington Montorious wheels with Toyo Proxes tires.
Misc: Includes a Boyd Gullwing steering wheel, Street Scene mirrors, and tweeded interior pieces.
Project Notes: Rob didn't give us an exact number on the body drop when asked. Having to lift the truck up so the door would open, though, was a good indication to us that whatever the number it was enough to drag doors. Rob would like to thank his club Pebble Pushers, Bubba, Chad, Scott, Rod, and his family for the support they've given. Completion Date: Winter 2002.
Modifications: Shaved handles, wipers, antenna, gas door, third brake light, bumper lights, and taillights. The tailgate was also molded shut. A molded, one-piece Toyota 4wd bumper and valance combo resides up front while a molded in roll pan helps smooth out the back. Other modifications include 14-inch LED lighting, a Trenz flame mirror, a smoothed out factory dash, and a custom center console. Honda Prelude seats covered in gray tweed command attention in the interior while white-faced gauges give a heads up on the motor. The 2-inch cowl-induction hood hides a shaved and tubbed firewall and a relocated clutch slave cylinder. Other cool items include a bed-mounted 10-gallon fuel cell, Colorado Customs Fire steering wheel, a '91 Toyota chrome grille with billet insert, and the popular H4 headlight conversion.
Chassis: Bagged with a Pete & Jake's four-link, 5-gallon ceramic reserve air tanks, and a MIC 6-inch notch. The setup also uses 1/2-inch Parker valves and 1/2-inch air lines.
Wheels & Tires: 17x7-inch Konig Verdicts with 205/40R17 tires.
Project Notes: At just 18, Geoff has managed to perform all the work on his Toyota himself. Thanks go to his parents and to his girlfriend Nicole for putting up with him. Plans: To be painted white with different graphics on each side. Completion Date: 2003 show season.
